iOS to GIS: Using Your Phone's GPS for Auto Geo-Referencing in Dot3D

Ever wish your Dot3D scans could just be auto-referenced to their locations on Planet Earth? Without the need for external hardware, survey targets, or anything else? Today we're glad to share that this capability has officially arrived in Dot3D 6.0+ and is actually as convenient as you might imagine. Join Chris Ahern, VP of Sales & Marketing at ‪DotProduct LLC‬ for a quick tour of our Boston office courtyard and demonstration of this new seamless workflow straight from scan to GIS (via your phone/tablet's internal GPS):

1. Turn on iOS Location Services (00:54)

2. Capture your scene in 3D (in the usual manner) (01:29)

3. Optimize your scene (in the usual manner) (02:13)

4. View the results and GNSS trajectory (02:30)

5. Export to LAS (or other point cloud format) (04:34)

6. View the GNSS trajectory on a map in Dot3D (05:38)

7. Import directly into GIS software (drop into QGIS) (06:21)
