Dot3D to Rhino 8: DP Import (& Meshing!) Workflow

Now import your Dot3D scans (.dp) straight into Rhino 8 (without the need for compatibility mode!). This brief tutorial demonstrates the simple process of opening a Dot3D scan directly in Rhino 8, and then demos the new ShrinkWrap feature now available for 3D meshing of point cloud data inside Rhino.

Step 1: Download the DP import plugin for Rhino here.

Step 2: Import the Dot3D point cloud directly in its native .dp format.

Rhino is a powerful 3D modeling software often used for computer-aided design (CAD), computer-aided manufacturing (CAM), rapid prototyping, 3D printing and reverse engineering. Common use cases include marine engineering, architecture, industrial design, automotive design, product design, and more.
