NSRP ShipScan Project (2018-422)
Materials provided from: https://www.nsrp.org/project/shipscan/
Objective:
This project sought to improve the current implementation of 3D scanning workflows in shipbuilding and to document workflows to address real-world engineering and business processes. The project leveraged new remote scanning technology that trades off very high accuracy for speed, convenience, and ease of use. The costs associated with this technology have dropped by an order of magnitude in recent years and opens the possibility for shipyard and design agents to consider implementing these scans as part of their business processes.
