Dot3D Prime app adds "Anchor Bolt Mode" for iOS

Innovative 3D Scanning Technology is Now Easier than Ever

Compatible with iPhone Pro/Pro Max and iPad Pro with LiDAR sensor

DotProduct Inc. ("DotProduct"), in collaboration with Yokogawa Bridge Corporation ("Yokogawa Bridge"), has added a new function, "Anchor Bolt Mode," to the iOS version of its Dot3D Prime application. This feature enables easy measurement of anchor bolt placement and inclination, as required at bridge construction sites, and provides highly accurate data.

1. Main improvements:

  • Use with smartphones
    In a major evolution from the previous Windows-only version, this feature can now be easily used on smartphones as well. By utilizing embedded LiDAR sensors such as the one inside the iPhone Pro, it has become even more convenient to carry and operate in the field.

  • Improved LiDAR sensor measurement accuracy
    We have achieved even more precise measurements than point cloud measurements using conventional LiDAR sensors.

2. Issues with conventional methods:

  • At bridge construction sites, precise measurements are required for post-installation anchor bolts that secure components. However, conventional methods depend on the skill of the measurer, and human error is inevitable.

3. History of joint development

  • DotProduct continues to provide high-density 3D point cloud data acquisition systems and has partnered with Yokogawa Bridge in anticipation of needs from the field. This has resulted in the "Anchor Bolt Mode," which enables easy and accurate measurements using a smartphone.

4. About the jointly developed apps

  • As with the previous Windows version of the software, the new app allows users to easily and accurately obtain the placement and tilt of anchor bolts. In addition, a 3D image is instantly generated and color-coded to intuitively determine the degree of tilt.

  • Above all, the new iOS support enables use on smartphones, rather than the previous tablet-based use.

5. Future developments

  • DotProduct plans to release a new application based on the results of the joint development in the near future. For sales in Japan, Myrtos Co., Ltd. will serve as the primary sales agent.
