Optimization is where the magic of Dot3D really shines. This critical post-processing step drastically improves the overall quality of every scan you take. Simply click optimize after scanning to watch as your data quality automatically improves in a variety of ways. Dot3D’s optimization is always fast, local, and secure. And can happen immediately after capture in the field, or at any time later, either on the same device or another.
Dot3D’s proprietary optimization algorithms apply a wide range of factors to automatically adjust each data set to the best possible results. These factors include (but are not limited to) loop closure, geometric alignment, texture alignment, noise reduction, stray point reduction, color leveling, AprilTag matching, application of reference measurements, fitting of GNSS data, survey control targeting, and more. All factors and constraints are dynamically and intelligently weighted, to produce the most accurate overall results. Optimization is particularly critical to large-scale scanning and can often turn what might otherwise look like a like messy raw scan into a beautifully accurate final result.
